Learn English By Email: Intermediate Certificate Program

Overview - English Language Instruction for Students with Basic Skills

ESL Language CoursesElinet's Intermediate Certificate Program covers 100 lessons, each containing five pages of extremely valuable learning materials, including recorded audio dialogues (MP3 files) touching on hundreds of topics and issues.

Dialogues are followed by a list of newly introduced words and expressions, carefully selected Useful Phrases and Models, and English Grammar rules, all presented in an easy-to-digest, colourful, attractive manner.

  • over 5,100 of the most popular and widely used English nouns, adjectives, verbs and verb combinations, adverbs, conjunctions, prepositions, etc.
  • includes 1000s of useful expressions and conversational models
  • presented in logical groups in easy-to-view, conveniently organized boxes
  • includes over 100 embedded MP3 audio dialogues for repeated listening

Lessons are visually attractive and contain colour photo images and examples of photo clip art serving as illustrations to dialogues, grammar tables, and conversational models. The language used in Elinet dialogues and grammar examples gradually increases in complexity. If studied one at a time, Elinet lessons provide a step-by-step, fun learning experience.

Students are required to complete a number of exercises and special assignments requiring both independent processing of lesson content by the students and interaction with their tutor.

See our FAQs for more information on Elinet's learning process.

Who Is it For?

The Intermediate Certificate Program is designed for those who have completed the Basic Certificate Program or anyone who wishes to become fluent in English and expand their existing basic speaking, reading and comprehension skills in the shortest time possible.

  • no age restrictions
  • no educational background restrictions

What English Skills Are Developed?

Elinet's Intermediate Program develops the following key language skills and more:

>Listening Comprehension

Listening to recorded audio dialogues (MP3 files) featuring native English speakers helps students develop their understanding of spoken, fluent English language used in a wide range of situations. At the same time students become accustomed to two major varieties of English pronunciation – North American (used in Canada and the US) and British (used in the United Kingdom and other British Commonwealth countries).

>Clear Speech

Repeatedly listening to the MP3 dialogues and imitating the speakers helps students develop clear and articulate speech and improve their quality of pronunciation. Good pronunciation and clear articulation are major factors in successful language communication. Consistent work on Elinet dialogues and conversational models builds students' confidence in dealing with real-life English language situations and ensures their successful verbal communication under real-life stress.

>Accent Reduction

Practising your speech using Elinet's unique audio lessons can help reduce foreign accents or even remove them altogether. Losing your native accent is an important step on the road to better employment, career growth, improved image, and personal success.

>Reading Comprehension

Building your reading skills with the help of Elinet dialogues, texts, exercises, and valuable information segments is fascinating and fun. Working with Elinet's learning materials dramatically improves reading comprehension, a key element of successful language communication.

>Building Word Power

Students are expected to learn all new words, grammar, models and expressions presented in each lesson so they can move forward to the next lesson. Active vocabulary building is essential to students' progress at every level of the Elinet program.

>Building Writing / Typing Skills

At the completion of each lesson, students are required to submit completed written assignments to their individual tutors via email. These assignments are specifically designed to develop students' English writing / typing skills.

The assignments include written exercises, brief dialogues imitating original lesson dialogues using newly introduced grammar and expressions, and a special form of student-tutor interaction developed by Elinet called Tell Your Teacher that adds to the creative aspect of the e-learning process. Your personal tutor will check your homework for spelling, grammar, syntactic and punctuation errors and make necessary corrections and comments.
